Emma Matthews – renowned as the finest Australian soprano of her generation – unveils her triumphant third album: Agony and Ecstasy.
Inspired by words from Verdi’s opera La traviata, the album presents a rich and timeless journey through the many faces of love, drawing on operas that employed the power of music to bring alive experiences of the heart as never before.
Agony and Ecstasy was recorded with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in December 2015, under the baton of conductor Andrea Molino by ARIA-Award-winning Tonmeister Virginia Read.
Tobias Cole presents his fourth Handel production – The Vow - in the Canberra Playhouse – the first for his new professional opera company: Handel in the Theatre, on 8 and 9 October 2016.

Stuart Skelton steps in as Siegmund in the concert performance of Die Walküre tonight in Baden-Baden
Owing to the indisposition of Jonas Kaufmann, Stuart Skelton will sing Siegmund in the concert performance of Die Walküre at the Baden-Baden Festspielhaus tonight (Thursday 7 July) with Valery Gergiev conducting The Mariinsky Orchestra.

Congratulations to Richard Gill on being awarded an AO in this year's Queen's Birthday honours.
Richard recived this honour for his distinguished service to the performing arts as a conductor, artistic director and advisor, to the development of music education, and as a mentor of young musicians.
